5 Healthy Foods That Keep Cancer At Bay

Our health can be greatly impacted by the food we consume. In fact, many adverse illnesses like cancer, diabetes and heart diseases are fuelled by our food consumption habits.

An example can be seen in the case of cancer where taking particular foods aid the growth of cancer cells, which lead to cancer itself.

But there are also natural foods which can help reduce the growth of cancer cells in the body due to the organic nutrients they possess. The incidence of other chronic diseases can also be reduced by consuming these natural foods, a fact that has been confirmed by research.

This article identifies 5 healthy foods whose consumption can inhibit the growth of cancer cells in the body.

Brocolli is one of the healthy foods in the cruciferous vegetable family. One of broccoli’s health benefits is an organic agent it contains, sulforaphane, which is highly effective against cancer cells.

A test tube study conducted on sulforaphane showed that its application cut down the amount and size of breast cancer cells by up to three quarters of the original amount and size.

Another research showed that its application on mice with prostate cancer had the cancer cells wiped out and the tumor cells reduced by half.

An analysis of 35 subjects in a study demonstrated that consuming more cruciferous vegetables like broccoli led to a lower incidence of colorectal and colon cancer.

That’s why it’s recommended to include broccoli in your meal plans, as its inclusion can help prevent cancer.

But you have to note that there is still inadequate research on the direct effects of broccoli consumption on cancer cells in human.

Research has concentrated on the effects of cruciferous vegetables or a specific organic agent, within them in test-tube and animal studies as well as observational analysis.

More research on the effects on humans has to be conducted.

Brocolli’s health benefit in the fight against cancer lies in sulforaphane, the organic agent that has been demonstrated to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors in test-tube and animal research.

The risk of colorectal cancer can also be lessened with increased consumption of cruciferous vegetables.

Some Research studies have found that an increased intake of carrots can lead to a lowered possibility of having some types of cancer. An example can be seen in the findings gotten on 5 different studies which discovered that one of carrot’s health benefits included the lowering of the possibility of getting stomach cancer by 20%.

Another research study found the possibility of having prostate cancer was lowered by 18% with a higher consumption of carrots.

An observation of the consumption habits of 1266 people was done. There were people with lung cancer as well as those who didn’t have lung cancer in this research study.

The results found that the likely incidence of lung cancer among smokers who consumed carrots twice or more weekly was a third of those smokers who didn’t take any carrots.

To take advantage of carrot’s health benefits and reduce your propensity to have cancer, put carrots into your meals or use as a side dish. Alternatively, you can take it as a snack.

Just make sure you increase your consumption of this healthy food to benefit from it. Bear in mind, however, that all the research studies have not taken other factors into play when evaluating the link between carrot intake and cancer.

Research has shown one of the carrot’s health benefits is a reduced propensity to have prostrate, lung and stomach cancer.

Fiber has been demonstrated to be very useful in preventing colorectal cancer. Beans are healthy food which is an excellent source of this element.

1905 people who have had colorectal tumors were evaluated in a research study which discovered a lower propensity of a reoccurrence of this condition among participants who had a high consumption level of beans.

A study on animals discovered that rats fed with black beans or navy beans when infected with colon cancer had the progress of their cancer cells limited by up to 75 %.

Studies have shown that eating beans will bring up your fiber level which in turn can prevent the development of cancer cells. But studies in this area so far have concentrated on animals.

They have only shown the link between beans consumption and cancer development but not the reasons behind it. There is the need for more research on this area among humans.

There is a lot of fiber in beans which prevents colorectal cancer. Studies have shown the propensity for colorectal cancer and colon cancer decreases with increased beans consumption among humans and animals.

The main health benefits of Berries are derived from anthocyanins, which are abundant in this food source. These organic compounds contain antioxidant elements which are linked to cancer prevention.

A study had bilberry extract applied on the colorectal cancer in 25 people for a week and found a 7% reduction in the cancer cells growth.

Freeze-dried black raspberries were administered to oral cancer patients in another study which found lowered levels of certain elements linked to cancer cell progress.

Another study found a 54% reduction in esophageal tumors and 62% lowering of the amount of tumors among rats fed with freeze-dried black raspberries.

Another research found that many cancer biomarkers were blocked in rats that were administered berry extracts.

These results demonstrate that cancer development could be halted with one or two daily servings of berries.

But there is the need for more research on the effects of concentrated berry extracts on humans as most of the present research has been based on animal testing and human observation.

Research on animals and in test tubes has discovered certain properties in berries that can inhibit the growth of some types of cancer cells.

The lowering of blood sugar, as well as easing inflammation, are some of the health benefits derivable from the consumption of cinnamon. Studies conducted in test tubes and on animals have also identified hindering the growth of cancer cells as another health benefit of cinnamon.

A test tube research study saw the administration of cinnamon extracts stopped the progress of cancer cells which led to their demise.

Another similar research found the progress of head and neck cancer cells halted by the application of cinnamon essential oils, which also made the tumor size much smaller.

A study on animals demonstrated how cinnamon extracts caused the death of tumor cells, which also hindered tumor advancement and growth.

Putting half or one teaspoon (2-4 grams) of cinnamon in your meals daily can help prevent cancer as well as provide other health benefits like lowering blood sugar and inflammation.

But there is still more need for research on the link between cinnamon and cancer in humans.

Cinnamon extracts have been found to contain elements that can stop cancer and tumor growth and advancement during test-tube and animal research
